It’s 9:12. One minute ago, I paused and prayed for our nation, our President and our incoming President. Whenever I look up and happen to see the time at 9:11 a.m. or p.m. wherever I am, I pause and begin to pray, sometimes audibly or inaudibily in my heart, for the protection of the people of our nation and our government officials. I wonder who out there does the same or who would join in this practice.

I don’t celebrate Christmas

I am a Christian who doesn’t celebrate Christmas. I wonder who else out there feels the same way and what are your reasons for not celebrating the season. Personally, I have heard the arguments for Christmas, but simply can not get beyond the fruit of it. When I look at what goes on this time of year, I shake my head in sadness in what we Christians do in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus says in Matthew 12:33, “…the tree is known by his fruit.” What fruit is produced during Christmas? Higher suicide rates, higher debt to deal with in the incoming new year, and higher materialistic expectations among our children, just to name a few. How many of those who profess the name of Christ were in the line at 3 a.m. at the Wal-Mart where the store clerk was unfortunately trampled to death by a frenzied mob? If there were Christians among them, how many of them would rush and camp out at a church at 3 a.m. in the morning for intercessory prayer? If we are truly celebrating the birth of Christ this time of year (which the early churches of the Apostles did not do) then his glorious name should not be made to share the stage with Satan, excuse me, I mean S-a-n-t-a.
